Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's initial title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court since March of that year.

The win also signifies he has won twenty-one titles at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to get a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was finished.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an improved serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

The opponent rescued four early-game break points in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
